Dutch for non-Dutch speakers in Brussels
Are you a non-Dutch-speaking job seeker? Take a course in Dutch at the VDAB.
We organise sector-specific Dutch courses for people who already have a basic knowledge of Dutch, as well as Dutch courses for absolute beginners.
Do you not have a basic knowledge of Dutch yet?
Are you registered with the Public Employment Service of Flanders as a jobseeker and do not yet have a basic knowledge of Dutch?
Not to worry: you can take an intensive language immersion course in basic Dutch through the Public Employment Service of Flanders.
- These Dutch lessons focus upon the theme of work.
- There are classroom lessons as well as practical lessons: a visit to the Public Employment Service of Flanders, a visit to a shopping centre, a trip to a city in Flanders etc.
- You will have classes every day except on Wednesday afternoon.
- The language immersion consists of two modules, each lasting five weeks.

Are you registered with the Public Employment Service of Flanders a jobseeker and you already have a basic knowledge of Dutch? We offer several sector-specific courses in Dutch. Some of our offerings.
- Dutch for the sales industry
You would like to work in a supermarket, a sports and leisure store, a clothing store, a DIY store or a multi-media store.- You will learn the Dutch you need to work in a
store. - You will learn to calculate, apply for jobs and work with a personal computer.

- Dutch for the health care sector
You would like to work as a caregiver, a health care professional, a nurse, an educator or a supervisor in childcare.- You will learn to understand, speak and write the professional language of the health care sector.
- You will get more information about the social sector and the various courses.
- You will have a job placement.
- The training lasts about five and a half months and starts twice a year.
You can also boost your knowledge of Dutch with these courses:
- Intensive language immersion in Dutch for advanced students
You have completed the intensive language immersion in the basic knowledge of Dutch, and you are ready to take your Dutch to the next level.- These Dutch lessons focus upon the theme of "work".
- You will take classes every morning and three afternoons a week.
- There are four modules. Each module lasts five weeks.
- We encourage you to dare to speak up and let you work on a project suitable for your future job.
- Dutch for higher education graduate profiles
You will have a higher qualification (graduate, bachelor, university degree or master), but still lack some knowledge of Dutch and its application skills.- You will learn the Dutch which you need to find a job with your degree.
- You will receive intensive guidance when applying for a job.
- You can have a job placement in a business of your choice.
- The training lasts about ten weeks and starts three times a year.
